Sealy wins triple jump title to highlight UAA championships for track and field

CHICAGO, Ill. – First-year Sarai Sealy (New York, N.Y./The Ursuline School) won the title in the triple jump today, highlighting four All-University Athletic Association performances for the Brandeis University track and field teams at the 2025 University Athletic Association championships at the University of Chicago.

SEALY'S UAA TITLE
  • Sarai Sealy won her first career UAA crown and the Judges' first since 2022.
  • Sealy's three successful jumps were all enough to win the title, with her fifth attempt at 12.23 meters (40 feet, 1 ½ inches) being her best attempt.
  • With the jump, Sealy moved into sixth place in the NCAA Division III rankings.
  • Sealy dethroned WashU's Ebunolua Opata, who is currently the top performer in Division III this season.
SILVER AND BRONZE MEDAL PERFORMANCES
  • After a pair of terrific performances in Day 1's preliminaries, the Judges got runner-up finishes from first-year Peterly Leroy (Malden, Mass./Prospect Hill Academy Charter School) in the women's 400-meter dash and junior Garret Rieden (Littleton, Mass./Littleton) in the men's 800-meter run.
  • Leroy, who set a school record in the 400 in the prelims finished with a time of 57.33 seconds. Her prelim time of 57.30 seconds is ranked 21st in Division III, right on the cusp of qualifying for NCAAs.
  • Leroy was Brandeis first All-UAA finisher in the 400 since 2020.
  • Rieden, who was third in prelims, finished in second place in the finals with a time of 1:52.84. That time is good for 14th in Division III this season.
  • Rieden's finish gives the Judges an All-UAA 800-meter runner for the second year in a row.
  • The Judges' other All-UAA finish came on Day 1 from junior Alisha Anderson (Denver, Colo./Ralston Valley) in the pole vault.
OTHER INDIVIDUAL BRANDEIS SCORERS
  • Junior Aiana Colas (Strasbourg, France/Le Gymnase Jean Sturm) placed just outside the top three in the high jump, an event in which the Judges had three scorers.
  • Colas finished in fourth place with a height of 1.58 meters (5 feet, 2 ¼ inches), two inches out of the second-place height and two ahead of fifth place.
  • Senior Kirsten Man (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) placed seventh and sophomore Sophie Segal (Hartsdale, N.Y./Ardsley) tied for eighth. Both finished with a height of 1.53 meters (5 feet, ¼ inch), with Man clearing 1.48 meters on her final attempt and Segal topping 1.53 on her second try.
  • Junior Shaniece Nugent (Hartford, Conn./Lawrence Acad.) scored in two events, placing sixth in yesterday's long jump and sixth in today's triple jump with a distance of 11.42 meters (37 feet, 5 ¾ inches).
  • Senior Hannah Bohbot-Dridi (Mountain View, Calif./Los Altos) took seventh in the 400 with a time of 59.14 seconds, lowering her prelim time by four-hundredths of a second.
  • Junior TJ Carleo (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) was the men's second scorer in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:00.30 to finish eighth.
RELAY SCORERS
  • In the women's 4x400-meter relay, the quartet of Leroy, first-year Jasmin Berganza (Providence, R.I./Classical), Sealy, and Bohbot-Dridi placed fourth with a time of 3:58.31, 0.62 seconds behind third-place Emory.
  • The men's 4x400-meter foursome of sophomore Sam Rosen (Dallas, Texas/Lakehill Preparatory School), Carleo, first-year Eli Wawersik (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) and Rieden placed sixth in 3:28.37, just 0.37 seconds behind NYU in fifth and two full seconds ahead of seventh-place Carnegie Mellon.
TEAM PERFORMANCES
  • The Brandeis women finished in fifth place with 51.5 points. It was their best finish since 2022 and their highest point total since 2019, when the conference starting scoring eight places in all events. The Judges were just 3.5 points behind Case Western Reserve in fourth place.
