CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Brandeis University outdoor track and field teams won two more titles and had a pair of All-Association relays today as the Judges competed on Day Two of the University Athletic Association Championships at Case Western Reserve University. The women finished the meet in fourth place with 81.5 points, while the men were sixth with 42 points.

UAA CHAMPIONS
  • Sophomore Sarai Sealy (New York, N.Y./Ursuline School) won the third UAA crown of her career in the triple jump today, adding an outdoor championship to go with her two indoor titles.
  • Sealy was also runner-up in the triple jump outdoors last year and placed second in the long jump on Day One, and during the indoor season, giving her six individual All-UAA honors. She would add a seventh during the relays later in the day.
  • Sealy won the event on her second jump of the day, leaping 12.19 meters (40 feet even). She won the event by a third of a meter and posted the fourth-longest triple jump of the season in Division III.
  • On the men's side, junior Michael Laurin (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) became Brandeis's first-ever champion in the discus throw.
  • Laurin had a throw that was good enough to win in the second round when he threw 43.93 meters (144-1). Laurin had two more throws that bettered his performance, finishing another foot and a half better on his final throw of 44.37 meters (145-7).
  • This was Laurin's second career All-UAA honor in the discus, having finished third last year.
RELAY SUCCESS
  • The Judges had a pair of All-Association relays from the women.
  • In the day's first running event, the 4x100-meter relay, the Judges finished in third place with the first-ever sub-48 race in school history.
  • The team of sophomore Peterly Leroy (Malden, Mass./Prospect Hill Academy Charter School), Sealy, sophomore Jasmin Berganza (Providence, R.I./Classical) and first-year Izzy Ross (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) posted a mark of 47.95 seconds, ranked 39th in Division III this season.
  • The Judges bookended the meet with a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Ross, Leroy, Berganza and junior Natalie Liapis (Plainville, Ill./Plainville North) ran 3:53.14, three seconds ahead of Emory.
  • The time is ranked #22 in Division III this season.
OTHER SCORING PERFORMANCES
  • Adding his second career All-UAA performance in the javelin was junior Sam Krause (New Orleans, La./Isidore Newman). Though Krause did not defend his conference crown, he finished in second with a distance of 54.27 meters (178-0). Krause was just 0.39 meters (1 foot, 4 inches) behind the winner.
  • Sealy added yet another scoring performance in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.26 seconds, one-hundredth of a second off her personal best in the event, good for fifth place.
  • Leroy was an individual scorer in the women's 400-meter dash, finishing in sixth place with a time of 57.00 seconds.
  • The Judges had two scorers in the women's 400-meter hurdles. Liapis placed fifth overall with a time of 1:05.88, while first-year Andrea Giorgiou (Nicosia, Cyprus/Nicosia) was eighth in 1:08.15.
  • The women's high jump was another double-scoring event for Brandeis, with first-year Ashley Korbul (Staten Island, N.Y./New Dorp) and junior Sophie Segal (Hartsdale, N.Y./Ardsley) tying for fourth place at 1.57 meters (5-1 ¾). Both were one height shy of reaching the top three.
  • First-year Eli Wawersik (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) was fifth in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.13 seconds, a personal best.
  • Junior Sadie Harrow (Bangor, Maine/Bangor) took sixth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:27.18.
TEAM PERFORMANCES
  • The women's 81.5 points and fourth-place finish was their best since 2009, when the team finished in fourth with 101 points.
  • The men's 42 points were seven behind their total from a year ago. The Judges finished in sixth place for the first time since 2023.
