Box Score 2 MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Brandeis University sophomore
Rebecca Suarez (Huntington, N.Y./International Virtual Learning Academy) reached the second day of action of both the singles and doubles tournaments at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional championships this weekend at Wesleyan University, but an injury forced her to withdraw after a marathon doubles victory.
In singles action, Suarez was the tournament's seventh seed. She opened the tournament with a three-set win over Nina Farhat from Middlebury, coming from a set down to win, 5-7, 7-5, 10-7. She had an easier time in the second round against Wellesley's Annissa Mu to advance to Day 2 and the round of 16, where she was slated to meet Sarah Youngberg of host Wesleyan.
In doubles action, Suarez and junior
Bhakti Parwani (Ahmedabad, India/Kumkum School) were seeded fourth in the tournament. They received a bye into the second round and defeated a pair from Smith College, 8-4, in their first match. In the round of 16 on Saturday, they topped the 9-16 seeds from Amherst, 8-7, winning the tiebreaker 7-3, but Suarez was unable to continue play for the rest of the tournament.

Chahana Budhbhatti (Ahmedabad, India/Aavishkar School) also lost to a player from the host Cardinals, Lane Durkin, 1-6, 3-6. In doubles action, Budhbhatti and senior
Sabrina Loui (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) won a first-round match against Wellesley, 8-6, before falling to a Tufts team, 8-4. First-years
Lika Bolkvadze (Tsbilisi, Georgia/The European School-American High School) and
Sajana Kumar (Phoenix, Ariz./Sandra Day O'Connor) won an opening round match against Colby, 8-4, but also fell to a Tufts duo in the Round of 32, 8-2. Loui also reached the Round of 16 in the B draw with an 8-0 win over Stephanie Beatrice from Regis before falling to Alaina Kolli of MIT, 8-3.
The Judges return to action on Oct. 1 with a dual match against Assumption College.
