WALTHAM, Mass. -- Brandeis University senior Amaya Logan of Jacksonville, Florida, of the women's soccer team and junior Daniel Shemesh of Modiin, Israel, of the men's tennis team, have earned University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors for their performances of the week ending Sept. 13.

Logan was named the UAA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week in a 1-1 week. Logan opened the week with a 2-0 win against Babson on Sept. 9, making a career-high seven saves and earning her second shutout of the season and the sixth of her career. On Sept. 12th Logan matched that career-high with another seven saves in a 2-1 loss to #8-ranked MIT. She kept the Judges close in a game that was tied until the final two minutes of regulation. With 17 saves in three games this season, Logan is tied for the UAA lead in total saves and ranks first with 5.67 saves per game. This was her first career UAA Player of the Week honor. 

The 2-2 Judges play Wellesley College at home on Wednesday, September 16, in their next contest.

Shemesh earned UAA Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors for the third time in his career. He opened his 2026-27 campaign at the MIT Invitational over the weekend posting a 5-1 record, including 3-0 at #1 singles. Shemesh won four tiebreakers over the course of his three matches. He defeated opponents from host MIT, 7-6 (7-4), 1-6, 10-7; Amherst College, 7-6, 6-3; and Bowdoin College. 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).
Shemesh also went 2-1 in doubles action alongside senior Huasen Dong of Richmond Hill, Ontario, winning at #3 against Bowdoin, 7-5, and splitting #2 matches against Tufts, with an 8-6 win and an 8-2 loss.

Shemesh will continue his season at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association New England Regional at Middlebury College starting on Sept. 25. 

Logan is a 2023 graduate of Creekside High School.

Shemesh is 2024 graduate of Ironi Hei School Modiin.
