Korbul, Sealy take home titles as women place fourth at UAAs

WALTHAM, Mass – The Brandeis University women's track and field team finished in fourth place at the 2026 University Athletic Association Indoor Championships on home turf today, as the Judges rode two UAA titles to score 57.25 points.

KORBUL TAKES HIGH JUMP HONORS
  • The Judges' first championship of the day came in the high jump, where first-year Ashley Korbul (Staten Island, N.Y. / New Dorp) claimed victory with a personal-best height of 1.65 meters (5-5).
  • Korbul converted on her second attempt at that height to defeat Chicago's Libby Mulvaney.
  • The height was just two centimeters of Brandeis' school record of 1.67 meters and ranks 23rd on the NCAA Division III performance list for 2026.
  • Korbul is Brandeis's first high jump champion since 2009 when Suzanne Bernier '10 achieved the feat.
  • In addition to Korbul, the Judges also got scoring performances in the high jump from senior Aiana Colas (Strasbourg, France / Le Gymnase Jean Sturm), who was sixth at 1.59 meters (5-2 ½), and junior Sophie Segal (Hartsdale, N.Y. / Ardsley), who tied for eighth with three others at 1.54 (5-½), accounting for the Judges' quarter of a point.
SEALY REPEATS IN TRIPLE JUMP
  • Sophomore Sarai Sealy (New York, N.Y./Ursuline School) earned her second All-UAA honor of the meet and the second indoor title of her career by winning the triple jump.
  • Her distance of 11.97 meters was just a hair under half a meter better than the runner-up from NYU.
  • Sealy improved to a tie for fifth place on the NCAA Division III list this season.
  • Sealy becomes Brandeis's first repeat UAA indoor champion since 2019, when Emily Bryson '19 won the second of her two titles in the 3,000-meter run.
OTHER SCORING PERFORMANCES
  • Sophomore Peterly Leroy (Malden, Mass./Prospect Hill Academy Charter School) missed giving the women a third spot on the UAA podium today, finishing fourth in the 400-meter dash by a mere 0.001 second.
  • Leroy was second in her heat to winner Gianna Phipps of Case Western Reserve, but Quinn Bird of WashU in the second heat ran 57.428 seconds to Leroy's 57.429 to take third place.
  • Leroy also scored in the 200-meter dash with an eighth-place time of 27.09 seconds, trailing first-year teammate Izzy Ross (Holliston, Mass./Holliston), who ran 26.59 for seventh.
  • Grad student Shae Regan (Littleton, Mass./Littleton) placed seventh in the 3,000-meter run, catching the eighth-place finisher down the stretch with a time of 10:00.60, a margin of 0.44 seconds.
  • The relay team of Ross, junior Natalie Liapis (Plainfield, Ill. / Plainfield North), sophomore Jasmin Berganza (Providence, R.I. / Classical) and Leroy won their heat and finished fourth in the 4x400-meter relay by just 0.1 seconds, denying them another podium spot.
TEAM SCORE
  • The Judges' fourth-place finish and 57.25 points were their best since the 2019 season, when they also hosted the UAA Championships.
  • Brandeis finished 6.25 points ahead of Carnegie Mellon, securing their placement by defeating the Tartans in the 4x400 relay to end the meet.
  • Washington University won their seventh-straight UAA title with 186.5 points, surpassing Chicago, who had 129.5.
UP NEXT
  • The Brandeis women will compete at Tufts University next weekend at the Tufts National Qualifying Meet on Friday and Saturday as they try to earn berths at the NCAA Championships on March 13 and 14.
