BOSTON and NORTON, Mass. – The Brandeis University track and field teams split their squads this weekend, competing at both the Boston University Terrier Classic and the Wheaton College Invitational. The BU meet was a non-scoring event with a large field of Division I, II and III competitors. At Wheaton, the women placed fifth of seven teams with 42 points, while the men took sixth place with 20 points.

TOP PERFORMERS – BU
  • The women's field squad had some of the team's best performances of the weekend at BU.
  • Junior Aiana Colas (Strabourg, France/ Le Gymnase Jean Sturm) tied for fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.60 meters (5-3). She was the top Division III competitor.
  • Junior Shaniece Nugent (Hartford, Conn./Lawrence Acad.) was the top D3 performer in the triple jump with a distance of 11.26 meters (36-11 ½). She was just four centimeters off her season-best, which is currently ranked 26th in Division III this season.
  • Junior Alisha Anderson (Denver, Colo./Ralston Valley) gave the Judges a third top-10 finish at BU in the pole vault with a height of 3.35 meters (10-11 ¾), eight inches off her season-best.
  • Individually, first-year Lily McNulty (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) had the top showing on the track, finishing 55th in the 1000 meters with a time of 3:12.16.
  • The 4x400-meter relay team came in 19th overall and fifth among Division III teams in 19th place with a time of 3:57.99. The squad was made up of first-year Jasmin Berganza (Providence, R.I./Classical), Nugent, first-year Sarai Sealy (New York, N.Y./The Ursuline School) and senior Hannah Bohbot-Dridi (Mountain View, Calif./Los Altos).
  • On the men's side, junior TJ Carleo (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) finished in 139th place in the mile run with a time of 4:18.68, 12th among Division III competitors.
TOP PERFORMERS – WHEATON
  • Several of the women came back and competed the next day at Wheaton. Bohbot-Dridi had the team's best finish on the track, placing second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.13 seconds, her PR by about four-tenths of a second.
  • Colas earned her a win in the high jump with a height of 1.64 meters (5-4 ½), while senior Kirsten Man (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) was fourth at 1.46m (4-9 ½), a season-best.
  • Sealy took home the triple jump with a distance of 11.91 meters (39-1), her second win of the season.
  • Nugent and Man placed second and fourth in the long jump, with distances of 5.01 meters (16-5 ¼) and 4.74 meters (15-6 ¾), respectively. Man's jump was another season best.
  • The men's top scoring event was the pole vault, where first-year Alex Chan (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) delivered a personal-best with a height of 3.85 meters (12-7 ½). He bettered his previous best by six inches to finish in second place.
  • Fellow first-year Eli Wawersik (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best of 8.98 seconds in the prelims, just missing that in the finals when he ran 8.99 seconds to finish fourth.
  • Senior Lin Lin Hutchinson (Portland, Ore./Ida B. Wells) took fourth in the triple jump for the men with a distance of 10.87 meters (35-8).
  • Berganza qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.10 seconds, a PR, but was edged out by seven-thousands of a second for a scoring place.
  • The men's 4x400-meter relay placed fourth with a time of 3:36.01 thanks to the team of sophomore Sam Rosen (Dallas, Texas/Lakehill Preparatory School), Wawersik, senior Danny Krigman (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) and senior Jordan Colon (Devens, Mass./Bromfield School).
