NORTON, Mass. – For the second week in a row, the Brandeis University track and field team set a school record as the Judges earned five individual wins at the Wheaton College Lyon Invitational. The event was a non-scoring meet.
COLAS TIES SCHOOL RECORD IN HIGH JUMP
- Junior Aiana Colas (Strasbourg, France/Le Gymnase Jean Sturm) won the high jump for the second week in a row.
- Her height of 1.67 meter (5-5 ¾) tied the Brandeis indoor school record set by Suzanne Bernier '10 in 2010. She set the mark on her second attempt at the height.
- Colas improved her standing in the Division III national rankings to a tie for sixth place.
MORE INDIVIDUAL WINNERS
- The Judges picked up two more wins from the women in field events and two in running events.
- For the second week in a row, a Brandeis competitor won the triple jump, as junior Shaniece Nugent (Hartford, Conn./Lawrence Academy) won the event with a distance of 11.30 meters (37-1). Her season-best jump was good for 18th in Division III this season.
- Junior Alisha Anderson (Denver, Colo./Ralston Valley) won the pole vault for the second week in a row, reaching a height of 3.40 meters (11-1 ¾).
- On the track, first-year Jasmin Berganza (Providence, R.I./Classical) captured the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.32 seconds. She won her heat by a full half a second and edged the winner of another heat by five-hundredths of a second for the victory.
- Senior Hannah Bohbot-Dridi (Mountain View, Calif./Los Altos) was the only competitor in the meet to run the 400-meters under one minute with a time of 59.51 seconds, running just more than half a second ahead of her next-closest competitor.
WOMEN EXCEL IN THE MILE
- The Judges took places two through five in the mile run. Junior Ella Warkentine (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga) was two seconds behind the winner from Smith College with a time of 5:20.27.
- Sophomore Sadie Harrow (Bangor, Maine/Bangor) wasn't far behind in third with a time of 5:20.29.
- First-year Lily McNulty (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) was fourth in 5:23.58, while senior Kyra Au (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck South) was fifth in 5:24.95.
- Both Harrow and Au turned in personal-best performances.
MEN'S TOP PERFORMERS
- On the men's side, the top performance was turned in by first-year Alex Chan (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) in the pole vault. After finishing with no height the previous week, Chan finished second with a height of 3.70 meters (12-1 ½).
- The men's 200-meter squad put three runners in the top six. Junior Matthew Yue (Vancouver, B.C./Woodside Priory School) was third in 23.73 seconds, winning his heat. Yue's time was just ahead of senior teammate Jordan Colon (Devens, Mass./Bromfield School), who ran 23.73 seconds and also won his heat.
- Fellow senior Danny Krigman (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) was the best second-place finisher in the event, running behind the event winner in 23.81 seconds.
- Yue also had a third-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.26 meters (20-6 ½).
- Senior Cam Peirce (Kittery, Maine/Portsmouth Christian Academy) placed fourth in the shot put with a heave of 13.15 meters (43-1 ¾).

- The Judges return to Norton, Massachusetts, next Saturday for the Wheaton Invitational. The team will also send some competitors to Boston University for the Terrier Invitational.
