  • Lesley, 3-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Judges got on the board early in the 11th minute. Graduate student Makenna Hunt (Tyngsboro, Mass./Tyngsboro) ran down a long ball from the defensive zone down the right side of the 18-yard box. She crossed it to junior Yasla Ngoma (North Plainfield, N.J. / Oak Knoll), who chipped the ball under the crossbar to open the scoring.
  • Brandeis added an insurance goal in the 40th minute off a quick start following a Lynx foul. Senior Caroline Swan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pine Richland) rolled the ball quickly to senior Juliette Carreiro (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional). Carreiro sent the ball into the box, where sophomore Dominque Paglia (Westford, Mass. / Westford Acad.) took a shot that senior Jess Herman (Plantation, Fla. / NSU University School) was able to punch across the goal line.
  • The Judges closed the scoring in the 83rd minute, when sophomore Morgan Collins (Littleton, Mass. / Parker Charter Essential School) headed home a free kick by Swan.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Brandeis sophomore Hannah Bassan (Aventura, Fla. / NSU University School) earned the shutout with five saves.
  • Lesley goalkeeper Audrey Calhoun was excellent, making six stops, including several diving efforts.
  • The Judges owned a 22-8 edge in shots and 10-0 in corner kicks. They were also whistled for 12 fouls to nine for Lesley, and flagged for offside nine times.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Bassan improved to 4-0-1 on the season and recorded her second shutout of the season and the fifth of her career.
  • Ngoma's goal was her second in four games this season and the eighth goal of her career. It was her first career game-winner.
  • Collins' goal was the first of her career, while Paglia's assist was her second.
  • Carreiro has scored a point in each of the Judges' last six contests. She has been held pointless in just one game this season.
  • Carreiro needs just one more helper to become the fifth player in school history with 20 for her career.
