HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lions opened the scoring just 32 seconds into the game. Emerson's Gina Lukoskie played a ball into the goalie area that Brandeis sophomore Hannah Bassan (Aventura, Fla. / NSU University School) came off her line to play. The ball eluded Bassan and Brittney Righetti slotted it home to put the visitors on top.
  • Brandeis answered in the 13th minute. The play started from a foul in the Brandeis defensive zone. Sophomore back Rachel Watler (Stevenson Ranch, Calif. / West Ranch) played a perfect ball over the top that senior Juliette Carreiro (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) ran onto. Carreiro had a wide open shot and put it inside the far right post to knot things up.
  • The Judges had a chance to go ahead in the 31st minute, when Carreiro hit the crossbar and sophomore Morgan Collins (Littleton, Mass. / Parker Charter Essential School) went just over it on the rebound.
  • The best chance of the second half came in the 59th minute, when Carreiro got a ball past a diving Amara Schaub, but Emerson's Lauren Larking was there to clear it off the line.
