#18 women's tennis blanks Wheaton, 8-0, to reach 10-win plateau

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University women's tennis team reached the 10-win plateau for the seventh-straight season today as the Judges defeated the visiting Wheaton College Lyons, 8-0, indoors in the Gosman Athletic Center. The 18th-ranked Judges improve to 10-3 on the season and snap a two-match losing streak in the process. Wheaton, coached by former Brandeis assistant Pauri Pandian, falls to 7-8.

 Brandeis rolled in doubles action, winning 8-1 matches at No. 2 and 3 and 8-3 at No. 1. Rookie Sabrina Ross Neergaard (Port Orchard, Wash./Laurel Springs Prep) and sophomore Olivia Leavitt (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) were each double winners on the day. They teamed up at No. 1 doubles, and Ross Neergaard won the day's closest match, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) at No. 1 against Ines Bracamonte. Leavitt did not drop a game at No. 3 singles, putting up a 6-0, 6-0, score against Connor O'Keefe. Sophomore Michele Lehat (Great Neck , N.Y. / John L. Miller Great Neck North) did the same at No. 4 singles against Harley Swainston. Sophomore Keren Khromchenko (Manalapan, N.J./Allied Academy of Health and Sciences) teamed with Lehat for the win at No. 3 doubles, then clinched the match at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-0, win over Isabelle Garvanne.

Brandeis returns to action on Thursday with a home match against #33 Wellesley College at 3 p.m.
