ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- The #30 Brandeis women's tennis team wrapped up its trip to Florida for the University Athletic Association tournament with a 9-0 defeat in the fifth-place match to #20-ranked Case Western Reserve.

The Judges fell behind in doubles action, with seniors Emily Eska (Princeton, Mass./Wachusett Regional) and Maya Vasser (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) engaged in the closest match, 8-6, at No. 3.

In singles action, the Spartans won five of the six matches in straight sets. Brandeis's best performance came from sophomore Haley Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J./Laurel Springs) at the No. 1 spot. Cohen won the first set from CWRU's Nithya Kanagasegar, 6-4, but dropped the second by the same score. Kanagasegar outlasted Cohen in a third-set supertiebreaker, 10-7, to complete the shutout.

The Judges (9-9) will play three more non-conference matches this week to close out the regular season, starting with a match against Endicott College on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
