Box Score

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Despite hitting a couple of home runs, the Brandeis baseball team suffered a 14-7 loss at the hands of Salve Regina today. The Judges dropped their fifth straight game to fall to 11-19 on the season. The Seahawks improve to 18-14 overall.

Brandeis was outhit for the game, 18-10, but the Judges got a pair of round-trippers for five of their seven runs. Junior catcher Connor Doyle (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms) hit a three-run bomb in the eighth inning, his second of the season. It was Doyle's only at-bat of the game after coming on as a defensive replacement in the seventh inning. In the ninth, rookie Nick Falkson (Dedham, Mass./Thayer Acad.) blasted his third of the campaign with one man on.

The Judges' other runs were driven in by junior outfielder Ryan Healy (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon) in the third inning and sophomore catcher Remy Pontes (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) in the fourth. Healy and rookie DH Ryan Pocock (Westford, Mass./Westford) each had two hits, with Pocock slugging a pair of doubles.

The visiting Seahawks had six different players with multiple hits. Designated hitter Alex Perry led SRU with four RBI, including a two-run home run in the team's six-run ninth. It was Perry's ninth of the season. Right fielder David Neil led all players with four hits, going 4-5 with three RBI. Shortstop and leadoff hitter Daniel Donohue and third baseman Joe Haley each went 3-6 and scored three runs. All three of Haley's hits were doubles, giving him 12 in 2015.

Salve Regina starter Billy Humes earned the win with five innings of work, allowing four hits and two runs (one earned). He fanned six and walked four in improving to 3-1 on the season. Brandeis starter Brent Edmunds (North Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet) fell to 0-3 after giving up four runs on six hits and four walks in the first three innings.

Brandeis continues its final homestand of the season with a noontime doubleheader against Trinity College on Sunday. Salve Regina is at Nichols in a Commonwealth Coast Conference twinbill on Saturday.
