Women's tennis drops close match against Trinity College, 5-4

HARTFORD, CONN. – The Brandeis University women's tennis team dropped at 5-4 decision to Trinity College on Sunday afternoon.  The Judges, ranked 30th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division III poll, fall to 9-6 on the seasosn while the Bantams improve to 6-4.

Brandeis' top double team of senior Rachel Rosman (Bonita Springs, Fla./Estero) and sophomore Faith Broderick (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville)earned the only win in doubles action, defeating Hillary Hoyt (New York, N.Y./Deerfield Academy (Mass.)) and Jillian Steckloff (Framingham, Mass./Framingham), 8-2.  Broderick, ranked 23rd in the Northeast, followed up her doubles win with a victory in the number two spot in singles, topping Arielle Leben (New York, N.Y./Fieldston), 6-0, 6-1.  Senior Mackenzie Gallegos (Friendswood, Texas/Friendswood) took a three set win over Regan Cherna (Bronxville, N.Y./Kent (Conn.)), 4-6, 6-1, 6-0.  Rookie Allyson Bernstein (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) picked up the Judges' fourth win in the fourth seed, topping her opponent in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

The Judges are in action again on April 20, when they host the MIT Engineers.

Trinity's next match is on April 16 against Hamilton College.
