WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The No. 28 Brandeis women's tennis team saw
a three-match winning streak come to a close today as the Judges
fell to Wellesley College, 7-2. The Judges are ranked No. 9 in the
Northeast region, while the Blue are No. 11.
The Judges dug a hole by dropping all three doubles matches,
including the No. 1 and 3 spots which were decided by only one
break of serve, 8-6. In singles action, Brandeis junior
Rachel
Rosman (Bonita Springs, Fla./Estero) had a
decisive victory at No. 2, 6-0, 6-2. At No. 4, classmate
Mackenzie Gallegos (Friendswood,
Texas/Friendswood) captured the only match to go three sets, 6-2,
5-7, 10-4 in the super tiebreaker. Unfortunately for coach Ben
Lamanna's squad, Wellesley dominated the two matches at the bottom
of the lineup, dropping only two games at Nos. 5 and 6.
Brandeis (6-6) returns to action tomorrow when they face
top-ranked Amherst College at 2 p.m. in a match played at
Wellesley.
