PEORIA, Ariz. - On February 21, Brandeis' University baseball

A 2-2 tie going into the seventh inning was snapped by
Washington and Lee as they produced four runs on four hits and two
errors. With the loss, Brandeis falls to 2-3 on the year,
while Washington and Lee moves to 4-1 with the victory.

with a double to right-center field. He stole third and then
scored on a pass ball. Brandeis answered in the fourth as
senior 2B Nick Gallagher (Southboro, Mass./St.

third on a wild pitch by General sophomore Gregg Laswell (Houston,
Texas/ Memorial). With one out, rookie LF Jon
Chu (Hollis Hills, N.Y./ Bronx Science) rolled one over to
second to drive in Gallagher.
Brandeis picked up their second run in the top of the fifth to
take a 2-1 lead. Senior DH Mike Alfego

left field. Sophomore CF Tony Deshler
(Pepperell, Mass./Lawrence Academy) and junior 3B James
Likis (Cambridge, Mass./Cambridge Ridge and Latin)
followed by adding in two singles to load the bases for the
Judges. Junior C Artie Posch (Hopedale,

score. Laswell was now in a jam as the Judges had bases
loaded with no outs. Laswell got out of the inning with a
timely 1-2-3 double play and then a strike out.
The Generals came back in the bottom half of the sixth inning to
tie the score at 2-2 on an RBI single by senior Andrew Henderson
(Atlanta, Ga./Pace). They took control of the game in the
bottom of the seventh, when they scored four times on four hits and
two errors which proved to be the offense needed for the
victory.
In the loss, Alfego and sophomore LF Tony
Deshler (Pepperell, Mass./Lawrence Academy) were the only
two Judges with multi-hit games as they each went 2-for-4 from the
dish. Sophomore P Justin Duncombe (Canyon
County, Calif./Canyon) got the no-decision he went
five-and-two-thirds innings, striking out three and allowing two
runs on seven hits and five walks.
