WALTHAM, Mass. - Brandeis University sophomore forward
Tiffany Pacheco (Rehoboth, Mass.) scored a goal
for the fourth straight game, registering both goals today as the
Judges women's soccer team defeated visiting Babson College, 2-0,
on Gordon Field. With the win, Brandeis evens the all-time series
with Babson, the most-played in Judges' women's soccer history, at
17-17-2.
Brandeis (4-0), which won its
eighth straight game dating back to last season, opened the scoring
in the 22nd minute. Rookie midfielder Isabella
Miranda (Plymouth, Mass.) sent a ball across the goal
mouth that Pacheco was able to knock home for her fourth goal of
the season.
The Judges added a second goal
just under 13 minutes later as the same pair connected. This time,
Miranda sent a long ball from near midfield towards the box.
Pacheco was able to track it down and send home a blast for her
second of the game and fifth of the season. It was the second
multi-goal game of Pacheco's career.
Babson (2-2-1) was able to get as
much pressure on the Judges as they have seen all season, taking 12
shots, but junior goalkeeper Hillary Rosenzweig
(Boca Raton, Fla.) made three saves to keep Brandeis's eight-match
shutout streak alive. The Beavers were kept in the game thanks to
six saves by sophomore netminder Sarah Macary (Woodbury, Conn.).
Brandeis wraps up their four-game
homestand on Saturday afternoon when they take on Springfield
College at 1 p.m., while Babson travels to Bridgewater State
College at 11 a.m. the same day.
