WALTHAM, Mass. - The Brandeis University women's soccer team
scored four unanswered goals in the second half today to claim
three points in the conference standings as they defeated visiting
Case Western Reserve University, 4-0, in a University Athletic
Association (UAA) showdown on Gordon Field. Brandeis improves to
7-4-1 (1-1 UAA), while Case falls to 7-6 (0-2 UAA)

which the Judges outshot the Spartans, 10-0, the hosts got on the
board just 3:26 into the second. Sophomore back Taryn
Martiniello (Wilmington, Mass.) notched her first goal of
the season in the 49th minute. Her corner kick bent into
the box and slipped through the hands of the Case netminder and
into across the line.
Brandeis doubled the lead just
under eight minutes later in the 57th minute. Rookie
midfielder Alanna Torre (Weston, Fla.) sent a
cross to classmate Izabella Miranda (Plymouth,
Mass.), who redirected it into the wide open net for her fourth of
the campaign.
Sophomore Kelly
Cozzens (Lancaster, Mass.) found classmate and fellow
forward Tiffany Pacheco (Rehoboth, Mass.) in the
72nd minute Pacheco blasted it home from about 25 yards
out for her team-leading eighth goal of the season to put the
Judges ahead 3-0. Brandeis closed out the scoring in the
86th minute when junior forward Melissa
Gorenkoff (Woodbury, N.Y.) dribbled along the end line and
dished to rookie Ali Theodore (Walpole, Mass.),
who scored her first collegiate goal.
Brandeis outshot Case, 22-6, for
the game. Judge junior goalkeeper Hillary
Rosenzweig (Boca Raton, Fla.) stopped all three shots on
net for her fifth shutout of the campaign. Case senior Kirsten
McClain (Rochester, N.Y.) made four stops in the losing effort.

afternoon, when they head to the University of Chicago for a UAA
weekend. Case heads to Atlanta next weekend to take on Emory in a
