WALTHAM, Mass. -- Brandeis University men's basketball senior
Elias Rodl of
Berlin, Germany, has added to his post-season trophy haul, earning first-team All-Region 2 honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and second-team All-Region honors by d3hoops.com.
Rodl, who previously earned first-team All-UAA honors, gives the Judges a first-team All-Region selection for the second year in a row, as he joins
Toby Harris '25, who went on to play as a graduate transfer at Division I Iona College this year.Â
Rodl turned in one of the great offensive seasons in Brandeis history, averaging 23.3 points per game. Rodl was second in the conference and 18th in Division III in scoring, while his 582 total points led the UAA and ranked 22nd nationally. In conference games, Rodl led the UAA by averaging 24.8 points per game and scoring 347, tying the league's single-season record. Rodl's 582 points are the third-highest single-season total in Brandeis history, while his 23.3 points per game average is 5th all-time.
Rodl also finished third in the UAA in rebounding average at 7.6 boards per game with a league-leading 189 caroms, placing fifth in rebounds per game (7.4) and total rebounds in league games (104). He also led the conference in 3-point percentage (43.2%) and 3-pointers (73), ranking 10th and 25th, respectively in NCAA Division III. Rodl finished third in free-throw percentage (84.0%) and fourth in field-goal percentage (51.6%) in all games. In conference games, he was first in 3-point and free-throw percentages (43.4%, 85.2%) and second in field-goal percentage (54.5%).Â
Rodl scored in double figures in all 25 games for the Judges, reaching 20 points or more 20 times with a 33-point performance against Carnegie Mellon on Feb. 6 and a 41-point game against Washington University on Feb. 22 in his final home contest. The game against the Bears was Brandeis's highest scoring game since 1992 and one of only 42 games in Division III with more than 40 points scored by an individual.Â
Rodl finished his career with 983 points in a Brandeis uniform in just two seasons, reaching 1,000 for his career in his 41-point game against WashU, as he had scored 56 points in two seasons at Division II St. Anselm.
The Brandeis men's basketball team finished the year with a 13-12 record, 6-8 in the UAA, in their seventh season under head coach
Jean Bain.Â
