WALTHAM, Mass. --
Michaela Sliney has been named as the new diving coach for the Brandeis University swimming and diving team, head coach
Nicole Carter announced today.
"We are thrilled to bring diving back to Brandeis Athletics," Carter said. "it's a sport that complements our swimming program and enriches the student athlete experience. Michaela's passion, energy, and expertise make her the perfect coach to lead this new chapter. I'm excited to welcome her to our staff and can't wait to see the impact she will have on our divers and our program as a whole."
A Bradford, Massachusetts native, Sliney graduated from the University of Louisville in 2020, where she was a member of the swimming and diving team.
As a diver at Louisville, Sliney was elected captain her senior year. She qualified for NCAA Zones all four years of her collegiate career and was an integral part of the Cardinals' diving squad. She qualified for NCAAs on 1-meter and 3-meter boards in 2019, helping the University of Louisville team take home fourth place. For her performances on both the boards and in the classroom, Sliney was named to the All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Honor Roll. She was also named the ACC Diver of the Week on Nov. 5, 2019.
Before her collegiate diving career, Sliney was a two-time State Champion and two-time All-American at Haverhill High School. She still holds her high school's six- and 11-dive records.
