Men's 4x200 lowers school record for 2nd time in 2025

NORTON, Mass. – The Brandeis University track and field team turned in seven first-place finishes at the Wheaton College Post-Season Qualifier on Saturday, including lowering a school record in the men's 4x200-meter relay for the second time this season.

SCHOOL RECORD
  • For the second time this season, the Judges set a school record in the 4x200-meter relay. The quartet of junior Matthew Yue (Vancouver, B.C./Woodside Priory School), senior Jordan Colon (Devens, Mass./Bromfield School), first-year Sam Rosen (Dallas, Texas/Lakehill Preparatory School), and senior Danny Krigman (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford),  shaved two-tenths of a second off the time from the Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational, finishing in 1:34.99.
OTHER WINNERS - MEN
  • The men produced three other winners on the day. Junior Garret Rieden (Littleton, Mass./Littleton) turned in a season-best in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.18.
  • Classmate TJ Carleo (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) took the mile run in 4:21.44, nine seconds ahead of grad student teammate Henry Nguyen (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Vocational School), who ran 4:30.03.
  • Sophomore Kevin Wright (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle Regional) had a p.r. in the 35-pound weight throw with a heave of 14.42 meters (47 feet, 3 ¾ inches), the team's best performance of the season in the event. He beat his previous career-best by 0.15 meters.
WINNERS – WOMEN
  • Women's soccer first-year standout Peterly Leroy (Malden, Mass. Prospect Hill Academy Charter School) captured the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.89 seconds, winning by about half a second.
  • Senior Kayla DiBenedetto (Andover, Mass./Andover) gave the Judges an 800-meter dash sweep with a time of 2:21.89 with a 2.5 second margin of victory.
  • Junior Alisha Anderson (Denver, Colo./Ralston Valley) continued her fine season in the pole vault, winning with a height of 3.52 meters (11 feet, 6 ½ inches).
OTHER TOP FINISHES
  • Junior Emma Liu (Taipei, Taiwan/Phillips Exeter Academy) took second in the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 14.42 meters (47 feet, 3 3/4) inches.
  • Classmate Shaniece Nugent (Hartford, Conn./Lawrence Academy) was second in the triple jump at 11.10 meters (36 feet, 5 inches), while senior Kirsten Man (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) was third at 10.30 meters (33 feet, 9 ½ inches).
  • First-year Alex Chan (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) was the runner-up in the pole vault, reaching 3.85 meters (12 feet, 7 ½ inches), a personal-best
  • Junior Ella Warkentine (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga) was second in the women's mile in 5:18.49.
  • Sophomore Sophie Segal (Hartsdale, N.Y./Ardsley) placed third in the high jump at a season-best 1.51 meters (4 feet, 11 ½ inches).

  • The Judges head to Chicago on March 1 and 2 for the 2025 University Athletic Association championships.
