Gonzalez paces Judges on Day 2 of UAA Swimming and Diving Championships

ATLANTA, Ga. – On the second day of action at the 2025 University Athletic Association championships at Emory, the Brandeis University swimming and diving team got scoring performances from its relays, as well as one all-time top-10 swim.

PRELIMINARIES - WOMEN
  • Senior Chloe Gonzalez (Miami Beach, Fla./Miami Beach) had the team's highest finish in the prelims, coming in 30th in the 50-yard freestyle. Gonzalez's time of 24.63 seconds was her personal best by one tenth of a second, third fastest in program history. She finished 0.12 seconds out of making it to the scoring races this evening.
  • Junior Jenna Wild (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) finished 39th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:30.29.
  • Junior Becca Kaplan (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary School) came in 40th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.95, 0.26 seconds off a p.r.
PRELIMINARIES – MEN
  • Sophomore Benjamin Lee (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) turned in the men's highest finish, coming in 34th in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:55.38, just over a second off his personal best and 2.38 seconds out of a spot in the finals. Sophomore Riley Pasicaran (Kennewick, Wash./Hanford) was 40th in 2:02.28.
  • Sophomore Luke Abrahamson (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) was 35th in the men's 500 free with a time of 4:58.73. First-year Douglas Chen (Taipei, Taiwan/Taipei American School) was 37th in the event with a time of 5:09.50.
RELAY FINALS
  • The Judges scored their points on the day in the relays, the 200 free and 400 medley, where the teams all placed eighth in their respective races.
  • The men's 200 free relay was the closest to their next closest opponents with a time of 1:27.19. The foursome of junior Eric Xiao (College Station, Tex./AM Consolidated), senior Tal Spector (Phoenix, Ariz./Herberger Young Scholars Academy), junior Solomon Skelton-Harris (Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) and first-year Peter Mou (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Brimmer and May School) were within three seconds of Rochester in seventh.
  • The women's 200 free team of Gonzalez, senior Anastasia Bekou (Limassol, Cyprus/Laniteio Lyceum), junior Audrey Teo (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) and Wild, turned in a time of 1:41.23, about five seconds behind UR.
  • The women's 400 medley team placed eight seconds behind Rochester, as the team of Bekou, Kaplan, Gonzalez, and Wild, finished in 4:02.08. The time was also within five seconds of the school record.
  • The men's 400 medley relay team of Pasicaran, Xiao, Mou, and Lee posted a time of 3:32.57.
