Worcester, Mass. – The Brandeis University swimming and diving team competed on the first day of the WPI Gompei Invitational today with six top-10 individual finishes by the men and four top-20 performances by the women in individual events. The teams were tied for fifth out of the nine teams in the combined meet with 950 points.
TOP PERFORMERS – MEN
- Senior Benjamin Lee (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) had the team's top finish, placing second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:55.10. He was about two seconds out of the top spot and held off third place by 0.84 seconds.
- Two Judges reached two A finals to earn a pair of top-10 finishes.
- Sophomore Peter Mou (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Brimmer and May School) was sixth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.56 seconds, the team's second-best finish on the day. He was also 10th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.99 seconds.
- Senior Eric Xiao (College Station, Texas/AM Consolidated) placed eighth in the 100 fly with a time of 52.35 seconds and ninth in the 50 freestyle in 21.85 seconds.
- Sophomore Guy Toib (Ben Ami, Israel/Tsulam Tsur) rounded out the top-10 finishers with an eighth-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:19.06.
- In all, 15 different Judges scored individual points for the men.

- Two men's relays finished in the top 10 as well. The 200 medley team of junior Luke Abrahamson (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln), Xiao, senior Solomon Skelton-Harris (Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) and Mou were seventh with a time of 1:36.67.
- The group of Lee, Mou, first-year Santiago Salazar (Houston, Texas/James E. Taylor) and Skelton-Harris were seventh in the 800 free relay in 7:12.10.
