Swimmer sweep Clark in final road meet of season

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Brandeis University swimming and diving teams traveled to Clark University on Saturday for their final road dual meet of the season, and the Judges earned a sweep of the Cougars. The men won, 122-66, while the women won, 115-105. It was the third-straight win for both squads.

TEAM RECORDS
  • Brandeis men, 4-6.
  • Brandeis women, 3-9.

TOP PERFORMERS – MEN
  • The men's team was anchored by several multi-event standouts.
  • Sophomore Peter Mou (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Brimmer and May School) was a double winner in the freestyle sprints. He captured the 50-yard freestyle in 22.42 seconds and later claimed the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.02 seconds.
  • Senior Benjamin Lee (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) continued his strong season in the middle-distance events, winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:48.02.
  • Senior Samuel Bundy (Charlotte, N.C./Ardrey Kell) dominated the distance events, taking the top spot in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:21.08.
  • First-year Santiago Salazar (Houston, Texas/James E. Taylor) added a victory in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 55.21 seconds. He also earned a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.68.
  • Junior Luke Abrahamson (Lincoln, R.I./Lincoln) won the 100-yard backstroke in 57.38 seconds.
  • Sophomore Guy Toib (Ben Ami, Israel/Tsulam Tsur) earned a win in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:05.34.
  • The Judges also opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Abrahamson, junior Riley Pasicaran (Kennewick, Wash./Hanford) , senior AJ Martinez (North Miami Beach, Fla./NSU University School), and senior Solomon Skelton-Harris (Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong) combined for a time of 1:47.61.

TOP PERFORMERS – WOMEN
  • The women's team saw multiple wins from their senior leaders.
  • Senior Jenna Wild (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) was a dual winner on the day. She took the 50-yard freestyle in 25.85 seconds and the 100-yard butterfly in 56.27 seconds.
  • Senior Becca Kaplan (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary School) showed her versatility, winning the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:50.54 and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:23.58.
  • First-year Ivana Marinkovic (Malden, Mass./Malden) swept the diving events, winning the 1-meter competition with a score of 162.15.
  • The women's 200-yard medley relay team of senior D'Arcy Anselmi (Pearl River, N.Y. / Pearl River), first-year Michelle Weissler (Greenwich, Conn. / Greenwich), Wild, and senior Audrey Teo (Palo Alto, Calif. / Palo Altofinished second with a time of 2:00.40.
  • Other notable finishes included Anselmi placing second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.46) and Weissler taking second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.41).

  • The Judges will celebrate Senior Day this Saturday at 12 p.m. against Regis College.
