WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Brandeis University men's soccer team has put four players on the 2025 All-University Athletic Association teams. Senior midfielder
Rainer Osselmann-Chai of
Acton, Massachusetts, was a first-team All-UAA selection. Senior midfielder
Nico Beninda of
Madison Township, New Jersey, and junior defender
Maddox Yu of
Ridgefield, Connecticut, were second-team selections, while sophomore defender
Dylan Marzouca of
Kingston, Jamaica, was an honorable mention.
Osselmann-Chai is honored by the UAA for the fourth time in his career. He was a second-team All-Association selection as a sophomore. As a first-year, he was named the UAA Co-Rookie of the Year, and was an honorable mention All-UAA selection that year and as a junior. Osselmann-Chai was the Judges' second-leading scorer this season, with four goals and three assists for 11 points. He contributed an assist in a UAA win over the University of Rochester on Oct. 18 and a goal in a 3-2 loss to the University of Chicago on Nov. 2, when the Judges rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game. He also contributed goals in non-conference wins over Coast Guard and MIT and in a 3-3 draw with Wheaton (Mass.) For his career, Osselmann-Chai has 11 goals and 11 assists for 33 points, with three game-winning goals.
Beninda lands on the All-UAA team for the second time, having earned first-team honors as a junior. Beninda was the team's leading scorer this season with five goals and two assists fo 12 points. In conference action, he delivered an assist in a 1-1 draw with NYU. Against non-conference opponents, Beninda delivered game-winning goals against Suffolk, Bridgewater State, and Anna Maria, while also scoring against Babson and Wheaton (Mass.). For his career, Beninda has tallied 13 goals with eight assists for 34 points, with four game-winning goals.Â
Yu earned All-UAA second-team honors for the second year in a row. He scored one goal and tied for team-high honors with three assists as an outside back. In UAA action, Yu delivered an assist on the Judges' game-tying goal in the last minute of a 1-1 draw with Emory on Oct. 14, while adding an assist in a 3-2 loss to Chicago on Nov. 2. He also scored the fifth goal of his career in a 3-0 win over Regis College on Sept. 6 in a 3-0 win. For his career, Yu has five goals and four assists for 14 points with one game-winning goal.
Marzouca is the lone first-time honoree for the Judges. As a central back, he played nearly every minute for the Judges this season. He helped the Brandeis defense limit their opponents to 10 shots per game and just over four shots on goal per game. The Judges had a 1.20 goals-against average this season. For his career, Marzouca has started 26 of a possible 34 games on defense for Brandeis.Â
The Brandeis men's soccer team finished their regular season with a 9-3-5 record, 1-3-3 in the UAA. The Judges were ranked as high as #5 in Division III during the regular season and were ranked #18 in the last United Soccer Coaches' poll of the regular season. Brandeis earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Division III tournament, their first since 2017. The Judges will play host to Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday, November 15, at 1:30 p.m. in the first round, following an 11 a.m. contest between top-ranked Tufts and Penn State-Harrisburg.Â
Osselmann-Chai is a 2022 graduate of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School.
Beninda is a 2022 graduate of Monroe Township High School.
Yu is a 2023 graduate of Ridgefield High school.
Marzouca is a 2024 graduate of Suffield (Conn.) Academy.
