MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Brandeis University sophomore
TJ Carleo (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) made his third appearance at an NCAA Championship today, competing in the 800-meter run at the Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Running in the second of three heats, Carleo placed fifth in his heat with a time of 1:52.45. He ended up in 12
th place overall, missing out on tomorrow's finals by 0.77 seconds. Carleo ran his first 400 meters in 56.65 seconds and was in eighth place, but made a nice kick in the second lap, closing in 55.80 seconds to move up three spots in his heat.
With his 12th-place finish, Carleo earns Second Team All-America honors, a new honor instituted by the USTFCCCA this year for the 9th through 16th place finishers at the NCAA Championships.
Carleo's previous highest finish at the NCAA Championships was 18
th place in both of his previous trips, last year at the outdoor championships and earlier this year indoors. He was the second finisher among six University Athletic Association runners in the event.
