AMHERST- MA - The Judges traveled to Amherst College on Sunday for the Amherst Spring Fling. Smiley Huynh set a new school record in the Pole vault. Judges Shanice Nugent and TJ Carleo won the triple jump and the 1500, respectively, and multiple Judges qualified for the DIII New England Regional Championships. Over 30 PRs were set across the board, and the Judges proved they are working hard to make their mark at UAAs.
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
 
Senior Smiley Huynh (Bronx, N.Y./Bronx H.S. of Science) set a new school record in the Pole Vault, jumping 3.65 meters (11-11 ¾) for 3rd place. Hunyh eclipsed the school record set by Jane Farrell '06 in 2005. She is now ranked 16th in Division III this season.
 
Sophomore Shaniece Nugent (Hartford, Conn./Lawrence Academy) won the triple jump, earning herself a PR of 11.60 meters (38-0 ¾), and moving herself up to #20 in DIII.
 
First-year Sadie Harrow (Bangor, Maine/ Bangor) ran a huge 5k PR of 18:26.26 for 7th place, qualifying for DIII New Englands. Sophomore Calli Morvay (Littleton, Mass. / Littleton) tied her PR with 19:53.89 for 15th place.
 
The 1500 saw many PRs. Senior Lizzy Reynolds (Winchester, Mass./ Winchester) earned a season-best of 5:00.30 for 21st place. Right behind was junior Kyra Au (Great Neck, N.Y. / Great Neck South) with a huge PR of 5:01.71 for 23rd. Sophomore Katriona Briggs (Menlo Park, CA / Menlo Atherton) ran her first-ever 1500, placing 26th with 5:08.37. Junior Zada Forde (Pelham, Mass. / Amherst Regional) earned a PR of 5:10.16, right behind her in 28th. First-year Shayna Zavell (Highland Park, Ill / Highland Park) earned a college PR of 5:22.00 for 35th place.
 
Senior Alya Campbell (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) placed 6th with 15.43 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, earning a season-best and moving her up to #59 in DIII.
 
Senior Olivia Zarzycki (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) placed 4th in the 400m Hurdles, with a season-best time of 1:06.84, and moving up to #53 in DIII. First-year Natalie Liapis (Plainfield, Ill. / Plainfield North) came in 6th for her PR time of 1:07.99 moving up to #83 in DIII, and junior Hannah Bohbot-Dridi (Mountain View, Calif./Los Altos) placed 8th with a season-best of 1:08.51, moving up to #100 in DIII
 
Shaniece Nugent placed 10th in the 100 meters, with a PR of 13.04 seconds.
 
Alya Campbell and senior Elizabeth Korn (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont) placed 9th and 10th in the 200 meters, running 26.62 seconds and 26.87 seconds, respectively.
 
Senior Ianna Gilbert (Queens, N.Y. / Young Women's Leadership School of Queens) earned a PR of 9.42 meters in the shot put for 18th place.
 
First-year Sophie Segal, (Hartsdale, N.Y. / Ardsley) earned a high jump PR of 1.57 meters, putting her in 10th place and moving her up to #66 in DIII.
 
Sophomore Emma Liu (Taipei, Taiwan / Phillips Exeter Academy) set a season-best in the discus with her throw of 29.50 meters. Sophomore Diane Meyer (Plymouth, Minn. Wayzata)  and junior Kate Hurlbert (Richmond, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School) also set PRs, throwing 27.74 meters and 27.62 meters for 25th and 25th, respectively.
 
Brandeis came in 3rd in the 4x100-meter relay, with a time of 4:08.42. The team consisted of Hannah Bohbot-Dridi, Shaniece Nugent, Elizabeth Korn, and Olivia Zarzycki.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
 
Sophomore TJ Carleo (Newburyport, Mass. / Newburyport) captured the 1500-meters with q 3:53.96 PR, ranking him 29^th in Division III and leading a large contingent of Judges in the event. Sophomore Garret Rieden (Littleton, Mass. / Littleton) (4:06.45) and senior Henry Nguyen (Worcester, Mass. /  Worcester Vocational Tech) (4:07.05) followed in 30th and 31st, both earning PRs. Junior Lucas Dia (Montclair, N.J. / Montclair) finished in 4:15.07 for 41st, also earning a PR. Junior Dylan Whalen (Stow, Mass. / Nashoba Regional) earned a PR of 4:41.03 for 55th, and junior Erik Lopez (Stamford, Conn. / Westhill) a PR of 4:46.19 for 57th place.
 
Junior Dashiell Janicki (New York, N.Y. / HS for Math Science and Engineering at City College) earned 4th place and a PR in the steeplechase with his time of 9:55.46, breaking 10 minutes for the first time and qualifying for DIII New Englands. In his first steeplechase race, first-year Hugh Licklider (Newton, Mass. / BC High) followed in 6th place with a time of 10:00.22, also qualifying himself for DIII New Englands.
 
First-year Ian Dyer (Warren, R.I. / Wheeler School) earned a 100-meter PR of 11.78 seconds for 39th place. First-year Nana Kudom (Bronx, N.Y. / Lion Charter School) followed in 46th for a PR of 12.31 seconds, and junior Lin Lin Hutchinson (Portland, Ore. / Ida B. Wells) in 48th for a PR of 12.75 seconds.
 
Sophomore Dylan Zhao (Staten Island, N.Y./Brooklyn Tech) earned a PR of 2:04.24 in the 800 meters
 
Sophomore Matthew Yue (Vancouver, B.C./Woodside Priory School) earned 29th in the 200 with a PR of 23.19 seconds. First-year Sam Rosen (Dallas, Texas / Lakehill Preparatory School) earned a PR of 24.07 for 48th, and Nana Kudom came in 53rd with a PR of 24.94 seconds.
 
Junior Cam Peirce (Kittery, Maine / Portsmouth Christian Academy) earned a Discus PR of 36.28 meters for 17th place.
 
The Judges return next week to Northampton for the Smith College Carla Coffey Invitational.
