NORTHAMPTON, M-A – The Judges travelled back to Northampton this weekend for the Carla Coffey Invite and Smith College. The Men placed 6th out of 10 teams with 48 points, between Williams (5th), and Wesleyan (7th). The women also placed 6th out of 12 teams with 53.50 points, behind Amherst and in front of Wesleyan. The Judges also had a 800 win, many top 8 finishers, and DIII Regionals qualifiers.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Sophomore Garret Rieden (Littleton, Mass. / Littleton) smashed his previous 800 PR with his 2nd-place finish and time of 1:52.64. He was .09 seconds behind sophomore TJ Carleo (Newburyport, Mass. / Newburyport), who won with 1:52.55. Carleo and Rieden are ranked 30th and 32nd nationally in the event, respectively.
Junior Lucas Dia (Montclair, N.J. / Montclair) ran 9:47.46 for 2nd place in the steeplechase, and first-year Hugh Licklider (Newton, Mass. / BC High) followed at 10:00.71 for 5th place. Both earned PRs and qualified for DIII Regionals.
Junior Dashiell Janicki (New York, N.Y. / HS for Math Science and Engineering at City College) earned a 1500 PR of 4:04.94 for 9th place. Junior Spencer Lee (Great Neck, N.Y./William A. Shine Great Neck South) followed in 4:15 for 21st place, also earning a PR. Sophomore Dylan Zhao (Staten Island, N.Y./Brooklyn Tech) followed with 4:25.71 for 27th place and a PR. Lastly, junior Erik Lopez (Stamford, Conn. / Westhill) earned a PR of 4:44.38 for 32nd place. Spencer Lee also earned an 800 PR 2:06.74 for 33rd place.
In his 11th place decathalon, sophomore TJ Showstead (Plymouth, Mass. / Plymouth North) earned a discus PR of 33.48 meters, a Pole Vault PR of 33.48 meters, and a 1500 PR of 4:56.71/. Showstead's score of 5061 is ranked 48th nationally.
First-year Sam Krause (New Orleans, La./Isidore Newman) placed 3rd in the Javelin with 50.26 meters.
First-year Nana Kudom (Bronx, N.Y. / Lion Charter School) earned a 100 PR of 12.25 seconds for 31st place.
Senior Willem Goff (Pelham, Mass. / Amherst Regional) ran a 5k PR of 15:56.12 for 17th place.
Junior Cam Peirce (Kittery, Maine / Portsmouth Christian Academy) placed 6th in shotput with 13.15 meters.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
In the 5k, Junior Anna Batelli (Oak Ridge, N.J. / Jefferson Township) earned a PR of 18.29.88, earning 8th place and qualifying for DIII Regionals. Following in 10th place, junior Kyra Au (Great Neck, N.Y. / Great Neck South) also earned a PR and qualified for regionals. In the unseeded heat sophomore Katriona Briggs (Menlo Park, Calif. / Menlo Atherton) ran 19:08.69 for 4th and a PR, and first-year Shayna Zavell (Highland Park, Ill / Highland Park) followed in 20:02.15 for a PR and 10th place.
Senior Alya Campbell (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) placed 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles with her time of 15.40 seconds.
Sophomore Ella Warkentine (Malvern, Pa. / Conestoga) ran her first steeplechase race, earning 6th place with her time of 11:47.10, qualifying for DIII regionals.
Sophomore Emma Liu (Taipei, Taiwan / Phillips Exeter Academy) earned a hammer throw PR of 39.57 meters.
Senior Olivia Zarzycki (Belmont, Mass. / Belmont) placed 3rd in high jump with 1.52 meters and 7th in the 400 meter hurdles with her time of 69.39 seconds
Senior Smiley Huynh (Bronx, N.Y. / Bronx H.S. of Science) placed 4th in the Pole Valut with 3.55 meters. She also placed 4th in long jump with 4.98 meters.
Sophomore Alisha Anderson (Denver, Colo. / Ralston Valley) ran 14.54 seconds in the 100, earning a PR and 27th place.
Senior Ianna Gilbert (Queens, N.Y. / Young Women's Leadership School of Queens) earned a shot put PR of 10.25 meters for 8th place.
The women's 4x100 placed 5th and earned a season's best of 49.67 seconds. The team included junior Hannah Bohbot-Dridi (Mountain View, Calif./Los Altos), Smiley Huynh, senior Elizabeth Korn (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont), and Alya Campbell.
Junior Kayla Dibenedetto (Andover, Mass / Andover) earned 8th for a season best in the 1500. First-year Sadie Harrow (Bangor, Maine/ Bangor) earned a PR of 5:06.88 in the 1500 for 17th.
Junior Hailey Crane (Ovid, N.Y. / South Seneca) placed 32nd in the 200 with her time of 28.39, earning a collegiate PR.
