VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Brandeis University sophomore
TJ Carleo (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) finished in 18
th place today in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Norfolk State University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Carleo was seeded 11
th entering the meet. He ran in the third of three heats, starting in Lane 6. Carleo was in fourth place after his first 200-meter lap, running a time of 26.97 seconds. Unfortunately, he was unable to keep up the fast pace of the race, and fell into seventh place by the 600-meter mark.
Carleo finished with a time of 1:54.33, three seconds behind the final qualifier for tomorrow's finals. He was unable to better his indoor personal-best time of 1:52.37, run at the University Athletic Association championships this year when he was the conference runner-up.
Carleo will return to action during the outdoor season, starting on March 30 at the Tufts Snowflake Classic. He will be in search of a third-straight berth at the NCAA Division III Championships.
