Box Score CUMBERLAND, R.I. – The Brandeis University men's tennis team, ranked 20
th in Division III, suffered a 5-2 loss at the hands of Division I Bryant today in the Judges' 2024 dual-season opener.
TEAM RECORDS
- Brandeis: 0-1.
- Bryant: 4-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The match was played under Division I rules, meaning six-game sets at doubles that account for one point, and no-ad games.
- The Bulldogs swept the three doubles matches, 6-2, 6-4 and 6-3, to take the first point of the match.
- The Judges' first win came at #4 singles, where sophomore Alex Merson (Palisades Park, N.J./Tenafly) took a 6-4, 6-1, decision.
- Senior #1 Dylan Walters (Baltimore, Md./Gilman School), ranked #22 in the Division III individual rankings, picked up a come-from-behind victory at #1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
- Sophomore Tommy Harrison (London, England/National Extension College) also went three sets at #2 singles, ultimately falling, 2-6, 6-4, 4-6.
