Brandeis tennis teams earn Top 20 spots in TennisRecruiting.net Division III rankings

WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Brandeis University tennis teams have each earned top 20 spots in this year's TennisRecruiting.net Division III incoming class rankings. The men were ranked #17 in the rankings, while the women are #20.

The men's class features three first years and one transfer student. The first-year class is comprised of Jonah Stolte of Overland Park, Kansas; Daniel Zheng of Saratoga, California; and Jay Raj of Melrose, Massachusetts. Alexander Georgiev of Boca Raton, Florida, joins the team as a graduate transfer student.

"I'm incredibly excited to welcome these four outstanding student-athletes to the Brandeis Men's Tennis program," said head coach Alan Dubrovsky, who was named University Athletic Association Co-Coach of the Year in his first season with the Judges.  "Coming to us from the eastern, central, and western regions of the country, this class brings a diverse and unique set of skills that will immediately elevate our competitive edge. After a strong season where we finished 18th in the country and didn't graduate a single player, we are in a fantastic position to build on that positive momentum, adding depth to a proven returning roster as we make another aggressive push upward in the national rankings. I look forward to welcoming this incoming class of Judges and helping each of them maximize their athletic talents."

On the women's side, the Judges bring in a first-year class seven strong from five different countries. They are Anushka Bhola of India; Beatriz Ohara de Paula Silva of Brazil; Elli Gerontikou of Greece; Jillian Yang of Cupertino, California; Kayla Chan of St. Louis, Missouri; Laura Tasias Sard of New Rochelle, New York; and Mariam Chkhikvadze, representing the country of Georgia.

"I'm excited to welcome the biggest Brandeis women's tennis class I've ever had to Waltham in the fall," said head coach Pauri Pandian. "These seven players, representing five countries, are going to be great additions to the program on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. I can't wait to get on court with them and for Brandeis fans to see the positive impact they will have on our program!"
