Carleo moves into top 10 in 800 as track and field competes at BU and MIT

BOSTON, MA – The Judges split up this weekend, with some heading to the Boston University Valentine Invitation, some to compete at the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT, and some taking the weekend off to rest. The BU meet saw 6 PRs and several Judges placed in the top 5 of their events at the MIT meet.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

BU Valentine Invite

Sophomore TJ Carleo (Newburyport, Mass. / Newburyport) placed 52 out of almost 300 runners in the 800, with his 1:51.58 time, only a second off his PR. The time is good enough to put him in the top 10 of Division III, depending on the rest of today's results. Carleo's time was 0.51 seconds off the school record, held by Geoff Getz '99.
Senior Ori Slotky (Closter, N.J. / Northern Valley Regional) dropped an impressive 3.4 seconds off his 400m time, earning a new PR of 53.16 seconds.
Junior Dean Carey (New York, N.Y. / Stuyvesant) ran a PR 200 of 23.03, 0.7 seconds faster than his previous, and sophomore Matthew Yue (Vancouver, B.C./Woodside Priory School) also earned a PR with his time of 23.20, a 0.5 second improvement.
The men's 4x400 team of Carleo, senior Samuel Kim (La Jolla, Calif./Phillips Exeter (N.H.)), Slotky and Carey ran a season-best time of 3:27.37, which ranks sixth in the UAA.

MIT Gordon Kelly Invite

Junior Danny Krigman (Chelmsford, Mass. Chelmsford) ran his first non-relay 400 for a time of 55.83 and 13th place overall.
Junior Cam Peirce (Kittery, Maine / Portsmouth Christian Academy) threw 11.61 meters in the shot-put and junior Lin Lin Hutchinson (Portland, Ore. Ida B. Wells) jumped 11.60 meters in the triple jump.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

BU Valentine Invite

Junior Hannah Bohbot-Dridi (Mountain View, Calif./Los Altos) earned a PR in the 400 meters with a time of 59.87 seconds.
ran a 400 PR of 59.62 seconds, breaking the 60-second barrier for the first time this season, and senior Olivia Zarzycki (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) ran a 400 PR of 1:00.4.
Sophomore Shaniece Nugent (Hartford, Conn./Lawrence Academy) ran a 200 PR of 26.67 seconds.
The women's 4x400 team ran a time of 4.02.92, earning them a season-best. The team included Shaniece Nugent, senior Olivia Zarzycki (Belmont, Mass. Belmont), senior Liz Korn (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont), and Hannah Bohbot-Dridi.
Senior Alya Campbell (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) placed 6th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.37 seconds.

MIT Gordon Kelly Invite

Senior Smiley Huynh (Bronx, N.Y. Bronx/Bronx H.S. of Science) ran a time of 8.26 seconds in the 60 meters prelims and then dropped a time of 8.24 for the finals. Both times were PRs and season records for the team.
Sophomore Alisha Anderson (Denver, Colo. / Ralston Valley) also dropped a 60 pr of 8.98 seconds, breaking 9 seconds for the first time.
Natalie Liapis (Plainfield, Ill. / Plainfield North) won her heat and placed 5th overall in the 400, earning a PR with her time of 1:05.45.
Smiley Huynh matched her Pole Vault PR of 3.55 meters, earning 4th place overall with a height that was tied for 35th in Division III entering the meet.
Junior Kirsten Man (Kendall Park, N.J. / South Brunswick) placed 6th overall in the Triple Jump at 10.42 meters. Sophomore Ifigenia Oxyzolou (Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) earned a PR of 9.37 meters.
