Track teams win at UMass Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Brandeis track and field teams went on the road for the first time this season today, competing in a dual meet with UMass Dartmouth. The men edged UMD, 86-83, while the women earned a wider margin, 100-72. Individually, the Judges finished first in nine events on the men's side and the women took 11.

The women captured all but one of the running events and all of the jumping events. Junior Anna Touitou (Pleasantville, N.Y. / Pleasantville) won the 100-meter dash and ran the lead leg of the winning 4x100-meter relay. Joining her on the winning relay were rookie Ianna Gilbert (Queens, N.Y. / Young Women's Leadership School of Queens) and Alya Campbell (Eastchester, N.Y. / Eastchester) and junior Devin Hiltunen (Quincy, Mass./North Quincy). Gilbert went on to win the high jump with a lifetime best height of 1.37 meters (4-6). Campbell won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.44 seconds, a PR and the second-fastest in the UAA this season. She also PRed in the 400 hurdles in 1:10.76. Hiltunen won the 200-meter dash in 26.69 seconds and was runner-up in the 400 in 1:01.20, the eighth fastest time in the UAA this season.

In the 800-meter run, senior Andrea Bolduc (Auburn, Mass./Auburn) edged junior Natalie Hattan (Sugar Land, Texas / Clements) by quarter of a second, 2:22.53 to 2:22.78, the times being PRs for both runners. Rookie Juliette Intrieri (North Salem, N.Y. / North Salem) won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:17.03. Senior Lydia Harris (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy) won the 400-meter intermediate hurdles and then anchored the winning 4x400-meter relay, along with first-year Elizabeth Korn (Piedmont, Calif. / Piedmont), Gilbert and Hattan.

Junior Gabrielle Tercatin (Needham, Mass. / Needham) took the long jump in 4.07 meters (13-4 ¼) and rookie Jordan LaPierre (Holland, Mass. / Tantasqua Regional) captured the triple jump at 9.38 meters (39-9 ¼).

For the men, graduate student Jack Allan (Wrentham, Mass./King Phillip Regional) continued his stellar season with two more individual wins and a relay victory. Allan took the 200-meter dash in 22.61 seconds, the eighth-best in the UAA this season. He also won the long jump in 6.77 meters (22-2 ½) and anchored the winning 4x100-meter relay. Allan was joined on that relay by first-year Zack Goldstein (Canton, Mass. / Canton), junior Jamie O'Neil (Auburndale, Mass. / Newton North) and senior Domenic Raphael (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Xaverian). Goldstein also picked up a win in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.45 seconds, putting him in the top 15 of the UAA with a personal best.

Junior Jacob Grant (Rockville Center, N.Y. / South Side) captured the 400-meter dash with a PR time of 51.85 seconds, while senior Aaron Baublis (Westborough, Mass. / Westborough) won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.32 seconds. Senior Breylen Ammen (Lincoln, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) captured the pole vault with a height of 3.90 meters (12-3 ½) and first-year Parker Jones (Westbury, N.Y. / Packer Collegiate Institute) took the triple jump with a distance of 11.66 meters (38-3 ¼).

The Judges also had one more winning relay, with the team of O'Neil, sophomore Taylor Diamond (Roslyn Heights, N.Y. / Roslyn), Raphael and Grant posting a time of 3:39.06, nearly 15 seconds ahead of the UMass Dartmouth team.
