#28 men's tennis drops 7-2 decision to MIT

WALTHAM, Mass. -- The #28 Brandeis men's tennis team suffered a doubles sweep and couldn't recover in a 7-2 defeat to MIT at home. The Judges fall to 9-10 on the season, while the Engineers improve to 12-4.

Brandeis's points came at the top two spots of the singles lineup. Junior Brian Granoff (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) won in straight sets at No. 2, 6-1, 7-5, while classmate Ryan Bunis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Groton-Dunstable, Mass.) won in three sets at No. 1, 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 in a super tiebreaker in the third. The Engineers took the rest of the singles matches in straight sets, with only one of those sets being closer than 6-3.

MIT won all three doubles matches, including a pair of tight contests at the top of the lineup. Bunis and junior Michael Arguello (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood) fell at No. 1, 9-6, while Granoff and senior Danny Lubarsky (Cleveland, Ohio/Hawken School) suffered an 8-6 defeat.

Brandeis closes their regular season Saturday at home against Wesleyan University. Match time is 2 p.m - it had originally been listed as an 11 a.m. start. The Brandeis women will start at 11.
