Men's tennis routs Babson, 9-0, to get back to .500

WELLESLEY, Mass. (taken from a Babson press release) -- The Brandeis men's tennis team evened its record at 6-6 on the 2009-10 season wit ha 9-0 sweep over local rival Babson today. The Judges were especially impressive in singles action, where three won five different sets at love, one at each of the top five spots on the ladder.

After jumping out to an immediate 3-0 lead thanks to a sweep of doubles play, the Judges cotinued to shite at singles. Brandeis put together matching 6-1, 6-0 wins by juniors Nick White (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) and Simon Miller (Plantation, Fla./Plantation) at number one and two, respectively. Babson (3-8) senior captain Brian Lafayette (Burlington, Vt.) and rookie Simeon Human both put up strong fights in the opening set of their matches, but Lafayette eventually fell to Brandeis rookie Steven Milo (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset), 7-5, 6-0, in the fourth spot and Human lost to sophomore Mike Tatarsky (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) at six, 7-5, 6-2.

The Judges are back in action on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. when they travel to Tufts University.
