BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Brandeis University women's soccer
team went to overtime for the second game in a row playing to a 2-2
draw against Bridgewater State College in the Judges' first road
game since their season opener in August.
Brandeis (4-1-1), ranked No. 7 in New England this week, fell
behind early as Bridgewater State (0-1-2) junior Kaitlin Lamothe
(Wrentham, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal at the 13:08 mark. The
Judges answered just 2:18 later as sophomore Ellie
Einhorn (Winter Park, Fla.) was assisted by rookie
Alanna Torre (Weston, Fla.) on a corner kick.
Rookie Izabella Miranda (Plymouth, Mass.) gave the
visitors a lead at the 38:36 mark with junior captain
Melissa Gorenkoff (Woodbury, N.Y.) picking up the
assist, her third of the season, tied for the team lead.
Brandeis took a 2-1 lead to intermission, but the Bears turned
up the pressure in the second half. The hosts outshot Brandeis,
10-7, forcing junior goalkeeper Hillary Rosenzweig
(Boca Raton, Fla.) to make five of her season-high six saves after
the break. BSC finally found an equalizer with just over six
minutes remaining in regulation. Junior reserve Kristina McSharry
(Plymouth, Mass.) notched her first goal of the season thanks to an
assist from Lamothe, who has been involved in all four BSC goals
this season. Both teams got three shots off in the extra sessions,
but none were on net, as Brandeis had its first tie of the season,
while the Bears earned their second in a row.
