WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Tanvi Raju (Hyderabad, India/Indus International School) had a goal and an assist in a span of just over three minutes in the first half tonight to lead the Brandeis University women's soccer team past Wellesley College, 2-1, on Gordon Field in non-conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After Brandeis took five of the game's first six shots, Raju broke the ice in the 25^th minute.
• She capitalized on a Blue turnover and maneuvered to the top of the box, taking a left-footed shot that snuck inside the left post. The goal was her second of the season and the 12^th of her career.
• Raju helped the Judges double their lead in the 28^th minute, just 3:14 after their first goal. After Brandeis dispossessed Wellesley at midfield, Raju slotted the ball to first-year back Valerie Bunde (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South). Bunde launched the ball high to the left of the net to score her first collegiate goal.
• The Judges held an 8-6 shooting edge at halftime and extended it to 18-9 in the second period, but Wellesley was the only team to score after the intermission.
• In the 66^th minute, Mae Nephew delivered a corner kick from the right side to the far post. Areet Rao was there to knock it home for her first goal of the year.
• Raju's three-point game marked the third time in her career that she was involved in at least two goals in a contest.
• The Brandeis defense stepped up after giving up the goal, allowing the Blue just one shot in the final 33 minutes, coming with just 13 seconds left in regulation.
• Brandeis senior Amaya Logan (Jacksonville, Fla./Creekside) made three saves to improve to 3-1 on the season. Wellesley's Olivia Lore had five stops in the losing effort.
• Wellesley had allowed just one goal in their first five contests this season.
