Women's tennis drops 7-0 decision at D1 Quinnipiac

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. – The #23-ranked Brandeis University women's tennis team closed out its six-game season-opening road trip today with a 7-0 loss against Division I Quinnipiac University.

TEAM RECORDS
  • Brandeis, 4-2, ranked #23 in Division III by the ITA.
  • Quinnipiac, 2-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Judges fell behind after dropping the doubles point, winning two games at #1 and #3 and three at #3.
  • In singles action, the Bobcats had a handful of quick wins at 2, 3, 5 and 6 to clinch the win.
  • Brandeis's closest matches came at #1 and #4.
  • At the top spot, junior Mandy Reyes (Manila, Philippines/Laurel Springs School)  dropped a 7-6, 7-5, decision
  • At #4, first-year Avani Chitale (Ahmedabad, India/Cosmos Castle International School) won the team's only set and extended her opponent to two tiebreakers, but eventually fell, 6-7, 6-4, 6-7.
UP NEXT
  • The Judges will play their next four matches at home, starting on March 7 against Trinity College.
