HOW IT HAPPENED

- Sophomore CF Connor Crowley (Guilford, Conn./Notre Dame-West Haven) was 2-4 with three runs scored and a stolen base out of the leadoff spot, while first-year 3B Ben Kuja (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) was 2-3 with two runs scored on a sacrifice bunt as the trio combined to go 7-12 with six runs scored and five RBI.
- It was a back-and-forth game, as Trinity jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Brandeis sophomore Andrew Tringe (Montpelier, Vt./Montpelier) with a pair of RBI singles in the first. Tringe struck out the last two batters of the frame with the bases loaded to escape further trouble.
- The Bantams added a run in the second without a hit, getting three straight walks and a sacrifice fly to go ahead, 3-0.
- Brandeis got on the board in the third on passed ball that allowed Crowley to score and Zanor's first hit, an RBI single that made it 3-2.
- Trinity added their fourth run in the fourth inning on a double down the line and a triple to center field.
- With two out and Crowley on second in the top of the fifth inning, Zanor tied things up with one swing of the bat, homering to right-center. It was his first homer of the season, his sixth in a Brandeis uniform and seventh overall in his career.
- The Judges took their first lead in the top of the seventh. Crowley reached on a dropped catch by the Trinity first baseman, and Kuja reached on another error while trying to bunt him to second. - In the bottom of the seventh, first-year reliever Rohan Shah (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) gave up a lead-off double down the line, and a bobble in right allowed the batter to get to third. That error proved costly, as Shah struck out two of the next three batters, but allowed a sacrifice fly for the second out of the inning, cutting the deficit to 6-5.
