#19 women fall to #6 CWRU

WALTHAM, Mass. – In their fourth game this season against a top-10 opponent, the #19-ranked Brandeis University women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of #6 Case Western Reserve in a University Athletic Association contest on Gordon Field.

TEAM RECORDS
  • Brandeis: 7-4-3, 0-4-0 UAA.
  • Case Western Reserve: 12-1-2, 2-1-1 UAA.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Spartans scored goals in each half to earn the win. In the 21st minute, Mia Modrovich finished a service from Molly Shamah after the visitors earned a corner kick.
  • They added an insurance goal in the 65th minute when a throw-in deep in the Brandeis zone made its way to Izzy Probst. Probst threaded a pass through the 18-yard box to Maggie Farra, who turned and shot a laser into the right netting for her 11th goal of the season.
  • Brandeis first-year Grace Carman (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) was the victim of some hard luck, twice hitting the crossbar with shots.
  • Carman, who had four of the team's eight total shots, dinged one off the woodwork in the 11th minute and again in the 49th minute.
  • Her two other shots were also on frame, but CWRU's Ellie Palaian denied Carman in the 71st and 88th minutes.
  • Junior Amaya Logan (Jacksonville, Fla./Creekside) made four stops in the first half, while sophomore Penny Alston (New York, N.Y./East Side Community) had three in the second stanza, including two terrific stops in the 15 minutes of the second half.
