#6 men use quick strikes to top Rochester, 2-1, in UAA action

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The #6-ranked Brandeis University men's soccer team came from behind to earn a thrilling 2–1 victory over the University of Rochester in a UAA matchup on Saturday afternoon. The Judges scored twice in a span of 16 seconds to secure the road win.

TEAM RECORDS
  • Brandeis, 9–1–3, 1–1–1 UAA, ranked #6 in Division III by the United Soccer Coaches
  • Rochester, 7–3–4, 1–1–1 UAA
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Yellow Jackets opened the scoring in the 50th minute when Kamal Ibrahim finished a breakaway into the low right corner, assisted by Johnny Makula.
  • The Judges scored the tying goal in the 79th minute as senior Slater Loffredo (North Hampton, N.H./Northwood School) netted his second goal of the season, finishing off a corner kick from senior Rainer Osselmann-Chai (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough Regional) with a low shot into the center of the net.
  • Just 16 seconds later, Brandeis struck again. First-year Langston Byrd (Austin, Texas/NYC School (N.Y.)) took advantage of Rochester's sloppy play off the restart. His initial shot was saved, but he chipped the rebound into the open net to put the Judges ahead, 2–1.
  • Brandeis goalkeeper senior Tyler Correnti (West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional) anchored the defense with four crucial saves, helping preserve the Judges' comeback win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The back-to-back goals scored in a 16 second span secured the Judges' first UAA victory of the year.

  • This marks the Judges' second consecutive comeback win over Rochester, having also rallied in last year's matchup, as well as the Judges' first win in Rochester since 2015.
