  • The Judges got off to a hot start in the second set, winning eight of the first 12 points to take an 8-4 lead after scoring four in a row on the serve of sophomore Madison Haft-Abromovitch (Stamford, Conn./Rye Country Day School).
  • NYU battled back to tie things up at 14-all. Brandeis won the next point on a kill by Ertischek to go ahead, 15-14.
  • NYU closed on a 10-7 run, including four of the last five points after Brandeis narrowed their deficit to 21-20 on a kill by first-year Katya Belyakova (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph Hill Acad.).
  • Brandeis started fast again in the third set, taking a 7-3 lead, but a 9-1 run by the Violets put them ahead, 12-8.
  • The Judges would rally again, edging ahead, 19-18, on a block by Haft-Abromovitch and first-year Colette Ejang (Los Angeles, Calif./Taft Charter School).
  • NYU called timeout, and the Violets closed out the match with a 7-0 run on the serve of Sarah Beville, who delivered four aces in the decisive streak.
  • Ertischek was the only player in the match with double-digit kills with 10, while Haft-Abromovitch and Ejang each had six.
