WALTHAM, Mass. – For the first time this season and fourth in his career, Brandeis University men's basketball senior forward Toby Harris of Durham, North Carolina, has been named the University Athletic Association Player of the Week.
 
A D3hoops.com Preseason All-American, Harris earned UAA Player of the Week honors after averaging 23 points and 6 rebounds per game and shooting 53% from the field in wins over Middlebury and Rivier.
 
Harris had 28 points and four boards in a 93-81 win over the Panthers on the road on Dec. 30, and 18 points, eight boards in an 84-65 win over the Raiders at home on Jan. 2. Harris also had three assists and two steals in the games. He hit 16-of-30 from the field (53.3%), 6-of-18 from 3-point range (33.3%) and 8-of-9 from the line (88.9%).
 
Overall this season, Harris is averaging 18.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, both tops on the team. He ranks fourth in the UAA in scoring and 11^th in rebounding. He is also third in field-goal percentage (72-131, 55.0%) and second in 3-point percentage (28-64, 43.8%). As a team, the Judges rank second in all of Division III in both categories, shooting 50.4% as a team overall (356-707) and 42.1% from 3-point range (138-328). Their 12.5 3-pointers per game also rank second in Division III.
 
The Judges finished non-conference play with a 9-2 record for the second year in a row. They open up conference play on Saturday at New York University, ranked fifth in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25.
 
Harris is a 2021 graduate of Durham Academy High School.
