DARTMOUTH, MA – Brandeis Cross Country traveled down to UMass Dartmouth today for the UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational. The men placed 18th out of 44 teams overall, but 7th among DIII schools. They finished with 526 points, behind Coast Guard, and just ahead of DI team Bryant. The women finished 16th out of 45 schools, and 5th among DIII teams. They finished with 528 points behind Mount Holyoke but came ahead of DII teams including Aldephi, St. Anselm, and SNHU.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Sophomore TJ Carleo (Newburyport, Mass. / Newburyport) came in first for Brandeis, finishing 70th out of a total 342 athletes on the fieldwith his time of 26:18.09. Carleo was 15th among Division III runners.
• Next up was senior captain Lucas Dia (Montclair, N.J. / Montclair), running 26:41.88 for 96th place, 27th in Division III.
• Senior Henry Nguyen (Worcester, Mass. / Worcester Vocational Tech) followed in 111th place with his time of 26:55.95.
• Junior Robert King (Clarksville, Md. /River Hill) came in 150th, running 27:28.35.
• Lastly, junior Dylan Zhao (Staten Island, N.Y./Brooklyn Tech) earned a cross-country 8K PR of 27:32.81, smashing his previous time by almost 20 seconds. He followed just behind King in 160th place.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Senior Anna Batelli (Oak Ridge, N.J. / Jefferson Township) ran 19:39 .73 , finishing first for Brandeis and 87th out of the total 345 runners. She also earned a 5K cross country PR, cutting off 50 seconds from her previous time. Batelli was 26th among D3 runners.
• Finishing 3 seconds behind her was junior Ella Warkentine (Malvern, Pa. / Conestoga), running 19:42.05 and finishing in 89th place overall, 27th in D3.
• Senior captain Kyra Au (Great Neck, N.Y. / Great Neck South) placed 116th with her time of 20:02.36, earning a 5K XC PR.
• Senior captain Zada Forde (Amherst, Mass / Amherst) followed with her time of 20:10.71 for 126th place. Lastly, sophomore Sadie Harrow (Bangor, Maine / Bangor) came in 139th, running 20:17.24.
