Licklider earns All-UAA XC honors with 13th-place finish, as men take sixth

WARRENVILLE, Ill. – The Brandeis University cross country teams each had an All-Association performance today as the men finished in sixth place and the women came in seventh at the 2026 University Athletic Association championships, hosted by the University of Chicago in Warrenville, Illinois.

TEAM PERFORMANCES
  • The Brandeis men finished with 181 points to edge Emory by one point for sixth place. The finish is the best for the Brandeis men since 2017.
ALL-ASSOCIATION HONORS
  • Senior Hugh Licklider (Newton, Mass./Boston College H.S.) earned All-UAA honors for the first time in his cross country career and second overall with a 13th-place finish. He previously won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at last year's outdoor championships.
  • Licklider covered the eight-kilometer course in 24:45.6, edging the 14th-place finisher by three-tenths of a second. He was 10 seconds out of a first-team honor.
  • He was the first All-UAA finisher in men's cross country for the Judges since 2017.
MORE SCORERS – MEN
  • The Judges used a balanced performance defeat Emory in their meet. They had a spread of 1:11 over their top five and 2:41 over their top seven.
  • First-year Owen Powers (Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane) turned in one of his best races of the season, finishing 43rd overall, taking five seconds off his personal best with a time of 25:40.8. Powers was seventh among first-years in the race, and was the team's second runner for just the second time this season.
  • Junior Parker Cook (Old Saybrook, Conn./Old Saybrook) had at 44th-place finish, posting a time of 25:43.0. Cook was up 25 places from his 2025 finish at UAAs, running just five seconds shy of his career-best.
  • Classmate Ben Katsev (N. Andover, Mass./N. Andover) was 49th in the standings with a time of 25:52.1 after finishing in the 70s in his previous two UAA races.
  • Sophomore Ben Weiner (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) rounded out the top five, coming in 54th with a time of 25:56.1, but an important five seconds ahead of an Emory runner to help the Judges finish a point ahead of the Eagles. Weiner broke 26 minutes for the first time and had a crucial five-place improvement over last year's UAA meet.
  • First-year Avery Innis (High Bridge, N.J./Voorhees) and junior Jason Linch (Charlotte, N.C./Harper Middle College H.S.) rounded out the top seven.
UP NEXT
