WALTHAM, Mass. – The visiting Emory University women's basketball team never trailed tonight as the ninth-ranked Eagles defeated host Brandeis University, 81-57, in a University Athletic Association contest in Red Auerbach Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles held Brandeis to just two field goals over the first nine minutes of action as they opened a 20-8 lead after the first period.
- The visitors kept the pressure up in the second quarter, opening on a 7-2 run to go up, 27-10. Emory led by as many as 25 points in the first half before taking a 44-21 into the locker room.
- Danielle Aronsky scored all of her nine first-half points in the second period, hitting a pair of 3-pointers and going 3-for-6 from the line. Brandeis sophomore Katherine Vaughan (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) had eight points for the Judges before the break.
- Emory extended their lead as large as 33 points in the second half thanks to a strong third period by grad student Claire Brock, who had eight in the frame to give the visitors a 63-34 lead headed into the fourth.
- Brandeis had its best 10 minutes of the game in the fourth quarter, outscoring Emory, 23-18, as the Judges hit 8-of-14 shots in the period (57.1%) while holding the Eagles to 8-of-18 (44.4%). Brandeis junior Caitlin Gresko (Howell, N.J./Howell) had eight points in the frame.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Gresko scored 11 of her team-high 15 points in the second half to lead Brandeis in scoring and reach double digits for the sixth game in a row.
- Junior Lulu Ohm (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) had nine second-half points, including six in the fourth, to finish with 12 points, while Vaughan ended up with 11.
- Sophomore Brooke Reed (Chantilly, Va./Westfield) led Brandeis and tied for game-high honors with seven rebounds to go with her six points.
- Ohm and first-year Carlie Marrella (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) each had two assists.
- Emory was paced by Brock, who had a game-high 16 points, while Alexandra Loucopouos had 13 points in just 15 minutes off the bench.
- Three other Eagle players had eight or nine points.
- Erin Martin had seven rebounds and Brock added six as Emory won the battle of the boards, 43-35.
- Emory also won the turnover battle, 14-6, to a tune of a 16-4 advantage in point off miscues.
