Men drop resumed contest against Vassar, 2-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat to Vassar College today as the Judges completed the final 35 minutes of a contest that was started on September 9 before being suspended because of lightning.
TEAM RECORDS
  • Brandeis: 1-4-2.
  • Vassar: 4-2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The key sequence in the game midway through the first half on Sept. 9, when the Brewers scored two goals in the span of just 10 seconds.
  • At the 32:14 mark of the first half, Owen Faulth took advantage of a Brandeis miscue and beat an onrushing Quintin Wrabley (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) to the ball. Faulth chipped the ball over the Brandeis junior netminder to give Vassar a 1-0 lead.
  • At 32:24, off the ensuing kickoff, Eli Torrey pounced on a slow back-pass and charged at Wrabley. His hard shot went right past the keeper for a second Brewer goal.
  • After the game was suspended due to lightning on Sept. 9 with 35 minutes to go in regulation, the teams were able to play the remainder this evening.
  • There were few decent chances for additional scoring tonight, with Brandeis juniors Andres Gonzalez (Doral, Fla./Divine Savior Academy) and Gabriel Haithcock (Macon, Ga./IMG Academy) each putting shots on goal in the second portion of the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Brandeis ended up with a 13-8 advantage in shots, but it was 3-3 in terms of shots on goal.
  • Vassar's Vasilis Ganasoulis made three stops to earn the shutout, while Wrabley took the loss with one save.
