Judges remain unbeated after 0-0 draw with Clark

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University and Clark University women's soccer teams each entered tonight's contest unbeaten, and both left the same way, as the teams battled to a 0-0 draw on Gordon Field in a non-conference contest.
TEAM RECORDS
  • Brandeis: 3-0-2.
  • Clark: 4-0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Judges had the better of play in the first half. They outshot Clark, 8-1, including 2-0 in shots on goal.
  • Brandeis's best chance came in the 27th minute, when first-year Lacey Mbugua (Brockton, Mass./Worcester Academy) hit the left post on a shot.
  • In the second half, the Judges also had an early attempt hit the woodwork, as sophomore back Elspeth Harker (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./The Albany Academies for Girls) connected with the crossbar after a corner kick in the 50th minute. Her shot deflected down towards the goal-mouth, but the Judges couldn't find a follow-up shot.
  • The Cougars had their best sustained pressure of the game over the next 15 minutes, Isabelle Ramirez and Andrea Mortimer both putting shots on goal, but Brandeis junior Hannah Bassan (Aventura, Fla./NSU University School) made both saves with ease.
  • Brandeis's best late chance came from rookie Tanvi Raju (Hyderabad, India/Indus International School), who received a cross in the 84th minute, but shot over the bar.
