#22 women fall at #3 WashU

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Brandeis University women's soccer team suffered its third-straight defeat at the hands of an undefeated opponent today as the #22-ranked Judges suffered a 4-0 University Athletic Association loss to #3-ranked Washington University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Judges fell behind in the early going, as Gaelan Clayton of the Bears scored two goals just under four minutes apart in the first half.
  • Clayton opened the scoring in the 14th minute, then added her second goal in the 17th minute.
  • WashU added their second goal in the 17th minute as Clayton Scored her second of the game.
  • The Bears tallied just over nine minutes before halftime when Sophie Viscovich assisted Madison Foley to give the home team a 3-0 lead.
  • Viscovich added a goal of her own in the 50th minute to give her a game-high three points.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • WashU owned a 9-5 edge in shots overall, 6-3 in shots on goal.
  • Brandeis junior Hannah Bassan (Aventura, Fla./NSU University School) had two saves to suffer the loss.
  • WashU's Sidney Conner had three stops as the Bears recorded their 10th-straight shutout of the season.
  • The Judges had lost their previous two contests against unbeaten Carnegie Mellon and Southern Maine.
