ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Brandeis University volleyball team dropped its final match of the first University Athletic Association Round Robin today the University of Rochester, falling by a 3-0 score to 15
th-ranked Emory. Set scores were 25-15, 25-12, 25-21.
TEAM RECORDS
- Brandeis, 6-9, 0-3 UAA.
- Emory, 7-4, 1-2 UAA.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emory got the match off to a fast start, scoring the first six point of the first set en route to a 25-15 win.
- The second set was tied at 3-3 and 6-6 when the Eagles went on a 7-1 string, and they never looked back, taking it 25-12.
- Brandeis fought back from a 13-5 deficit in the third set, going on an 8-2 run of their own to close within 15-13 on an error by the Eagles.
- An Alexa Ho (Queens, N.Y./Frances Lewis) service ace got Brandeis within one point at 16-15, but Emory answered with four of the next five points.
- The Judges would close within two points two more times, including at 23-21 on a service ace by senior Olivia Nirode (Keller, Texas/Keller), but the Eagles won the next two points to close it out, 25-21.
- Junior Madison Haft-Abromovitch (Stratford, Conn./Rye Country Day School) led Brandeis with nine kills, while first-year Emmory Casto (Castle Rock, Colo./Rock Canyon) had six.
- Alexa Ho and first-year Camila Valenzuela (Winter Park, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) each had seven assists.
- Nirode topped the defense with nine digs.
