PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore Grace Carman (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) scored the game's lone goal in the 44th minute, and the Brandeis University women's soccer team held on for a 1-0 victory over Rhode Island College on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Brandeis controlled the opening half, putting 10 shots toward the Rhode Island College goal and earning four corner kicks.
• The Judges broke through with just over a minute remaining in the first half when Carman scored on a shot from just outside the 18-yard box with an assist from junior Reilly Hickey (Medford, Mass./Mystic Valley Regional Charter School) to give Brandeis a 1-0 lead at the break.
• Brandeis senior goalkeeper Amaya Logan (Jacksonville, Fla./Creekside) made three saves in the second half to preserve the shutout, including stops on two shots by Rhode Island College's Caitlyn Terceiro and one by Isabella DiGioia.
• The Judges continued to generate offensive pressure throughout the second half, recording 11 additional shots.
• Brandeis came close to extending its lead, putting six of those attempts on goal from five different players: first-year Ella Kauffman (E. Greenwich, R.I./E. Greenwich), first-year Olivia Flores (Atlanta, Ga./Dunwoody), first-year Madelyn Aizenberg (Sacramento, Calif./Rio Americano), senior Tanvi Raju (Hyderabad, India/Indus International School), and Hickey. However, Anchorwomen goalkeeper Nicole Nunes made a save on each attempt to keep Rhode Island College within one.
• Rhode Island College applied pressure late, taking control of the ball for the last 20 minutes, but the Judges' defense held firm to secure the 1-0 victory.

• Brandeis held a 21-7 advantage in shots and a 12-3 edge in shots on goal, while also earning five corner kicks compared to one for Rhode Island College.
• Logan made three saves for the Judges to record her fourth shutout in six games this season, while Nunes made 11 saves for the Anchorwomen.
• Kauffman led all players with six shots, including four on goal, while Raju and Hickey each recorded three shots.
• Carman's goal was her team-leading third of the season, while Hickey recorded her first assist of the year.
